Like many non-profits, Pittsburgh UNITED uses one database for member tracking, and an online toolset for engagement. In their case, they’ve paired NGP’s VAN with Salsa. Both are good products, but without a data manager on staff, the data is in need of a good cleaning. In addition to reorganizing the data, we are setting up regular data flows to move information between the two databases. Now that NGP VAN has also opened up their API, we’re looking forward to more automated data exchanges between the two products.
